At Lugano
"Unity, Integrity, Industry", as translated from the Rothschilds' latin motto has also been the common denominator marking the merger in 1991 between what were then Banca Privata Edmond de Rothschild and Banca Solari & Blum. Both institutions came from the same matrix of projectivity and forsightedness of men who steadfastly believed in a positive development of Lugano as a finance place.
Both institutions have been committed since their inception to all facets of financial services, and aware of the great changes taking place on the international scene. Motivated by a desire of harmonious growth in a financial place in continual expansion the boards of both banks realized the timeliness of seeking a suitable partner to involve in order to further this aim.
Thus the contacts brought forth the signing in spring 1991 of the definitive agreement sealing the merger of two entities which caused the blending of talent and experience indeed culturally diverse yet philosophically related and compatible.
A new challenge arose. The test was passed with success thanks to the engagement of all parties involved as well as to the more than two centuries of tradition of the Group. The latter has always given great importance to human relationship, therefore also to their relationship with their staff, which in that particular instance could be motivated and express their best in their different secialised fields.
The traditional careful attention given to clients and the quality of services have contributed to the successful period of transition. We can today take stock of the positive accomplishments and synergies developed in this merger and look at the future with continous but confident optimism.
