Change of name and new coat of arms

As a tribute to Baron Edmond de Rothschild, who founded our Bank and Group, Baron and Baroness Benjamin de Rothschild decided to rename the LCF Rothschild Group.

Since 1 Jan. this year it has become the Edmond de Rothschild Group. In this same spirit our Chairman has modernised the Rothschild family's coat of arms while reclaiming its colours: gold and azure, the family's historical colours; gules, evoking the name Rothschild itself; and sable, the colour of Austria.

The eagle is from Austria, homeland of the Rothschild family's nobility. The lion, neither crowned nor armed, is from Hesse in reference to William I, whose fortune was managed by Mayer Amschel Rothschild, founder of the family dynasty.

Finally, the five arrows symbolise the five branches of the family descending from Mayer Amschel Rothschild's five sons, who left to settle in the five major European capitals of the time: Paris, London, Naples, Vienna and Frankfurt.
